Nigel Shaw - your Conservative District and Town Councillor - moved to Norwich in the late 1960's when his mother took over as Head Teacher of Magdalen Gates First School, then called Bull Close Road Primary School. Having worked for the Conservatives when a boy as a canvasser and a runner between the polling stations and the committee room of M.P. Tom Boardman, Nigel has always had slightly more then a passing interest in the political scene. More recently he was a canvasser for the Referendum Party and has staunch views on the Pound, Europe, Crime and Social Justice. Nigel worked for the Halifax Building Society in Norwich, eventually moving into estimating and accountancy before finding his niche in the entertainment business when becoming a professional International D.J. and Radio Presenter. After working for almost ten years abroad and having travelled extensively throughout Europe, he moved back to the UK in the mid 80's and was involved with the licensing trade for a time. In 1987 he started his own wholesale business and has since trained as a web designer/developer. He now runs Legendary Web Design, based in Norwich together with a number of small internet businesses that he is expanding. Nigel was first elected to Thorpe St. Andrew Town Council and Broadland District Council in 2002 and has since defended both seats during the last 16 years with respectable majorities. In 2004, Nigel was elected to Norfolk County Council as the member for the Woodside Division and served for 12 years there. He has also been more recently elected to Sprowston Town council. At Broadland D.C. Thorpe St. Andrew Town Council and Sprowston Town Council his duties are varied but focused, as can be seen below:
Over the years he has also been Chairman of Broadland Community Safety Partnership, Chairman of the Responsible Authorities Panel, Chairman of the Legal Services Partnership and Chairman of the Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel. |
